Protecting Your Assets From a Nursing Home: Richard Newman, a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, is frequently called upon to help his clients protect their assets from a nursing home. Accordingly, in this presentation he will speak about the methods of paying for nursing home care. Mr. Newman will describe the public benefits which are available and explain how one can qualify for those benefits. He will then discuss Medicaid eligibility rules, since that is the public benefit which pays for most of the care in a nursing home. Finally, Mr. Newman will give a few tips on how to protect assets while qualifying for Medicaid.
